STRETCHING THE PERFORMANCE DOG DVD
by Debbie Gross Saunders £21.00
Dogs doing agility and other performance sports need to be treated as athletes. Stretching prepares the body
for movement and helps make the transition from static inactivity to dynamic activity without strain.
Stretching before and after a training session or a competition run will help with flexibility, thereby
improving performance and aiding in the prevention of common injuries.
If the flexibility and strength that the dog requires to perform his sport is not present, injuries will occur.
These injuries may not happen spontaneously, but rather develop over time. This process is why there are so many
soft tissue problems in performance dogs. These problems can, however, be prevented or reduced with proper stretching,
warm-up, and cool-down
